I had the same problem - xine could only read the title credits, and mplayer couldn't see the disc at all (totem never works anyway). However once I'd installed <a href="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/";>vlc</a> (which is available via the <a href="https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu";>Medibuntu</a> repository) it all worked fine. I don't know why xine and mplayer are broken with 8.04, they shouldn't be.
