I saw a kernel update of 2.6.24-17-xen, so tried booting that, but got the same failure to boot, and message including:
"kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/debian/buildd/custom-source- xen/arch/x86/mm/higmem_32-xen.c:42!"
