i am experiencing simliar problems: xubuntu hardy 8.04 64bit, when compiz is on an rhythmbox playing, and i am browsing on firefox, rhythmbox interrups playback. viewing "top" shows a short dramatic increase of CPU due to Xorg up to 100%.
