I am experiencing a similar issue with my Sony CLie PEG-SJ30/U. I am unable to synchronize my PDA upon initial set up. Steps: 1) Configure Gnome-Pilot Settings Add MyPDA with owner Name and ID Number. Device Settings: Cradle, USB, Time out: 2, Device: /dev/pilot, Speed: 9600 And I set up the conduits: all to Synchronize and One TIme Action to Copy from PDA.
I leave the Sendmail and TIme settings disabled. and when I press the sync option on my Clie, the Clie is unable to establish a connection with my laptop or my desktop. However, if I open a terminal window and enter sudo modprobe visor and enter my root password, then I can sync FINE, no problem. I have to enter sudo modprobe visor each time I power up my system if I want to be able to synchronize my PDA to my laptop and the same for my desktop.
