** Description changed: Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn After a recent update to Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) on my Toshiba Portege R500 Laptop, the OpenVPN plugin to the network manager has stopped working properly (it worked fine after the upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04). It tries to connect to a VPN but then pops up a message saying the connection failed, because it was unable to connect to the VPN server (the exact - message is given in the attached log file). However, it has actually - created the TUN interface correctly and the VPN session is active and - works fine - I just can't turn it off easily. The network manager icon - on the panel shows the VPN session as being disconnected and any - attempts to open another VPN session (with the same or different VPN - server) cause it to flag the 'cannot connect to server' error. + message is given in the attached log file). If I try to connect a + second time it immediately flashes up the error (unable to connect to + server). + + However, on the second go it has actually created the TUN interface + correctly and the VPN session is active and works fine - I just reports + that it can't make the connect and I can't turn it off easily. The + network manager icon on the panel shows the VPN session as being + disconnected and any attempts to open another VPN session (with the same + or different VPN server) cause it to flag the 'cannot connect to server' + error. OpenVPN connections work fine from the command line and otherwise the system is healthy and up to date. I've tried deleting and reinstating the VPN configurations as well as purging and reinstalling the OpenVPN plugin itself with no change in behaviour. OpenVPN plugin is network-manager-openvpn 0.3.2svn2342-1ubuntu4 I've attached the relevant bits of my syslog during the connection process, note that I've removed our static IP address and replaced it with XX.YY.ZZ.QQ. Thanks
