Hi Abubakar Gurnah , sorry for the delay. You are right, using your example, MS Office 2003 ask if it should expand the selection and sort the whole sheet. This is a new "feature", using MS Office 2000 no popup dialog appears.
Summarization: OpenOffice behaves exactly like MS Office 2000. To my experience, almost all users of MS Excel know that they have to select a single cell if they want to sort all columns. So the new feature in MSO 2003 is only interesting to users that are new to Excel. There is no simple answer if this dialog is an improvement, because users that want to select only a single column always have to click this new dialog away. I would not want such a dialog. However I agree that the behaviour of Excel 2000 and oocalc is anything but intuitive and therefore the dialog would be a help for beginners. A compromise would be to add the dialog to oocalc but include a toggle box "Never ask again". -- Sorting in ooffice calc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210690 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
