I booted into kernel 2.6.25.1, copied a 2.8 GB file from one internal partition to another and tried using the desktop during the copy.
I *think* responsiveness is improved. Firefox didn't grey out at all during the copy, and I could open other nautilus windows. But about 2GB into the copy FF started taking a long time to respond. It's hard to be sure because a lot of new stuff in the new kernel was broken: in particular, USB works, but transfers data intermittently. So I couldn't use the USB mouse because it moved too jerkily. I also couldn't test desktop responsiveness while copying large files to an USB drive. -- Heavy Disk I/O harms desktop responsiveness https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131094 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
