On the advice of a member of my local LUG I commented out the
"model" parameter from /etc/modules.d/alsa.
Now when I modprobe snd-ali5451 there is a different error:
From dmesg:
[ 60.188884] ALI 5451: probe of 0000:00:08.0 failed with error
-16
I'm assuming this is a kernel error rather than one defined by the
module since I couldn't find reference to such an error on the ALSA
website's description of the module. Also I haven't found anything to
indicate what this error code means.
The module now shows up in lsmod but alsa still detects no cards,
creates no mixers.
