Hello,
I'll directly start:

~# ls -l /usr/lib/libcups*
ls: cannot access /usr/lib/libcups.so.2: No such file or directory

Note the "cannot access". Also. see this result:

:~# ls -al /usr/lib/
ls: cannot access /usr/lib/libcups.so.2: No such file or directory
?????????? ? ? ? ? ? libcups.so.2

Maybe there's a file-system error and cupsys might not be a problem
after all? I'm not very skillful in this topic and only making guesses.
However I'll try to help as much as I can (although I won't be available
until Friday).
Note also, that this problem happened on a rented "virtual server" so I
can't fsck or similar (in case it might become useful for debugging)

Greetings,
Frederik Braun
