Confirmed, but trivial. Ubuntu 8.04 is LTS (http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-8.04-lts-desktop) meaning 3 year support, Kubuntu 8.04 would be supported until october 2009 (http://www.kubuntu.com/download.php)
But since Kubuntu uses just the Ubuntu repositories it feels strange.
