Public bug reported: Hi,
I'm using Kubuntu Hardy, having upgraded from Gutsy. In the new system, after I close the lid and reopen it, the screen stays blank. I can switch to other terminals with ctrl-alt-F[1-6], and I can restore the display by killing X with ctrl-alt-BS, so this sounds a lot like bug #203324, except that no amount of Fn-F7 achieves anything for me, and lshal -m produces nothing. Bug #204483 may also be related, but I'm using Intel graphics chips and drivers. $ lspci ... 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02) ... There seem to be a plethora of old, solved bugs with similar descriptions, but I've been using this Thinkpad with Ubuntu 5.10 and every Kubuntu since 6.10 and never ran into anything like it. I've seen people mention their power-management preferences in apparently-related bugs, but I can find no such settings in Kubuntu. If there's any more info I can provide, please let me know.
