I have the same problem, however mine continues until I press the off switch on my laptop. This is not an Ubuntu specific bug. I am using Fedora Core 9 within Gnome on a Lenovo (IBM) 3000 N100. I have read a trend of Thinkpads that are having this problem and maybe that is related. I recently started experiencing the problem after upgrading from Fedora Core 8 to Core 9. I did not have the problem under Core 8 *at all*. Recently I messed with the keyboard repeat settings, and the problem "seems" to have gone away, but I keep saying that until the next time it happens. It his hard to call the system "stable" when I can't depend on the keyboard not to go wild. Perhaps the commonality between Ubuntu and Fedora 9, and the diff between Fedora 8 and Fedora 9 might help locate what causes this problem.
