Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.24
Version: 2.6.24-16-generic

expected behavior: since kernel 2.6.24 has included SATA ALPM power
management patch from LessWatts.org (1) I should be able to modify
/sys/class/scsi_host/host1/link_power_management_policy accordingly to
my needs

what happens instead: despite being able to tweak those files in
previous 2.6.24 kernel revisions (for the hosts folders that provide
them), at some point this was broken.

At the moment I face a regression since editing link_power_management_policy
has no effect (i.e. if I change max_performance to min_power either manually or
via sysfsutils the changes are not saved but reverted instantly).
Nothing appears in syslog, messages or dmesg.
