NEC Versa P7200 laptop.
Kubuntu Hardy 8.04
When I click the Shutdown button all seems to proceed normally until the
final Kubuntu splash screen. At this point the splash screen remains
visible and the machine does not shut down until I remove the battery.
The Restart function operates correctly.
