Jouni, The errors you got are somewhat disconcerting, both because ':' is a perfectly valid command in POSIX shell (and recognized by dash), and because the line numbers don't appear to line up with the actual maintainer scripts in ucf 3.005. This error definitely isn't reproducible for me with dash as /bin/sh, so I'm afraid I don't see any way to proceed here.
