I also had this problem after reinstalling my Wacom Bamboo1 tablet. I had it working just fine on Gutsy, but the Hardy upgrade breaks every x.org setting there is. Luckily, I had a backup of my original xorg.conf. After running all the commands on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4785779, Xubuntu would try gdm 3 times and then fail. However, opening a terminal (CTRL-ALT-F1), killing all gdm instances (type "ps -eF | grep gdm" to see them) and then running "startx" got me back in a normal desktop situation. WITH the tablet working! Looking at /var/crash, I think it was the pressure applet I downloaded and installed that was the problem. I attached the crash file, as apport-gtk (not apport-qt on Xubuntu) only says it is not an official package.
Oh, I probably got the panel applet from http://www.alexmac.cc/tablet- apps/ Hope this is of any help to you. ** Attachment added: "_usr_bin_pressure-applet.py.1000.crash" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14545563/_usr_bin_pressure-applet.py.1000.crash -- Greeter appears to be crashing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201701 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
