I'm having a very similar problem trying to upgrade to 8.04. Linux XXXXX-Desktop 2.6.22-14-386 #1 Tue Feb 12 07:12:19 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
/var/log/dist-upgrade MarkUpgrade() called on a non-upgrable pkg: 'kubuntu-desktop' ERROR:root:Dist-upgrade failed: 'A essential package would have to be removed' I'm not sure if I should open a new bug for this as the original is a few releases behind but it appears to be the same issue, with a different package. as a side note - I've tried update-manager, apt-get, and the last attempt was using the alternate CD downloaded via torrent. The only way that produced any error was using the CD all other methods of upgrading just stalled out with no errors or clues as to what the problem was. side note 2. I have KDE4 installed on my ubuntu machine which I sometime login to see changes / updates to KDE4. let me know if any further information is needed. -- ubuntu-desktop, 'A essential package would have to be remove https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88844 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
