No joy. I'd tried that before with no luck. Taking a look at the Mozilla plugins directory there's a different flash library. It's called: flashplugin-alternative.so The file you suggested is trying to install libflashplayer.so but not finding an existing one and not handling that too well. It thinks I'm giving it the wrong directory.
Replacing the current with the new seems to be the thing to do but I'm not sure how to do that so things will be setup correctly.
