Firefox 3 animates animated gif favicons in the tabs, url entry box, and the url suggestions drop down, when in about:config I have set image.animation_mode to none. I expect them not to be animated in this case. For an example, visit this site: http://fmc.anmb.ro/ However, the animation does not always happen. I haven't worked out the exact conditions, but when it isn't animating you can make it animate again by clearing the cache and reloading the page.
