Hi !

... I got it working by adding the noacpi parameter on the relevant
/boot/grub/menu.lst

f.eg as follows :

kernel        /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-16-generic
root=UUID=406425ef-0b93-44d2-9954-341a3d7659e3 ro quiet splash pci=noacpi
