These are my entries: /boot/grub/menu.lst
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-16-386 root=UUID=560308fe-21ef-47bf- aff1-a91797394b47 ro quiet splash locale=it_IT apt-cache show usplash Version: 0.5.19 /etc/usplash.conf xres=1280 yres=1024 I have done "sudo dpkg-reconfigure usplash" as you mentioned above, but with no results. I tried to tweak /etc/usplash.conf using 1024x768 and 800x600 and, with these settings, I have a 2-second bootsplash in the final part of reboot/shutdown. Nothing during system boot. Thinking for a problem about fglrx (because it seems it appears only with ATI cards) I tried to switch to vesa driver, but with no results. If I remember well, I had this problem when I updated a fresh Gutsy installation... might it be an issue related to kernel settings?
