Thanks for your reply. Matteo, looks like from my web search that you're in the Bologna Italy area and responsible for the Invest applet upgrades. I'm still a relative newbie, learning Ubuntu on my own for about 9 months now.
At this point, the Invest applet shows GOOG on left-click (I entered that one before it crashed) and does not respond to a right-click. That means that I cannot Remove From Panel, which is a bit scary. The little gray thing is gone. For fun, I added another instance, so now I have two just alike, both unresponsive. -- I think I won't do that again. After I send this email I'll try a reboot to see if that restores responsiveness; the problem seems to arise after suspend, which I did overnight. I'm learning: ppa = Personal Package Archive. Quick way to find it is to just Google Matteo Zandi. I'm willing to try out your testing packages, but I'm still a newbie. I looked at man apt-get and tried this: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo apt-get -s install gnome-applets Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done gnome-applets is already the newest version. The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: mysql-common libmysqlclient15off libpq5 libnss3-0d Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 16 not upgraded. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ apt-get source gnome-applets = 2.23.1-svn10829-mz3 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to find a source package for [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ Again, thanks for your response. If you have any helpful suggestions I'll take them, in the spirit of learning how Ubuntu and its community works. --Steve On Sat, May 10, 2008 at 6:16 AM, Matteo Zandi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Steve, > > if you're afraid of that little grey thing next to invest icon, I can tell > you that it has been removed. > Next version will bring a major UI redesign, check out svn, gnome's > bugzilla.
