This looks to me like a Qt issue. In many ways it is safer if
Mathematica used only its own libraries, and ignored any later ones
which might be present on the operating system. But often there are
advantages in using later versions - like on Solaris one cant get
Mathematica working on an Intel CPU, whereas the library shipped with
Mathematica will only run on an AMD CPU.
