I agree the package must be updated in hard, indeed.
But the restore functionality is definitively not essential for using aptoncd. 
Once you have created the installation disc you can use it as any other 
APT-compatible media, you just put it into the CD/DVD-ROM drive and Ubuntu is 
going to ask you if you want to add the disc as an APT source, and by doing so 
you can install any package from the disc just using Synaptic/Add-Remove 
Applications/Update-Manager/apt-get/aptitude/adept or any other application 
manager compatible with the APT.

But please, be patient, an updated package is comming.
