Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.17
I installed Edgy Eft Beta on my tower which uses a wireless card that is reported as "RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI" (lspci). The kernel module is loaded and provides interfaces wlan0 and wmaster 0. But it doesn't work - I never get a connection to my AP (I tried with and without encryption). "iwlist wlan0 scanning" fails without result. So far this bug is a duplicate of bug #58117. I then tried different versions of configuration (using /etc/Wireless/RT61STA/rt61sta.dat and combinations of iwconfig/iwpriv) but nothing works. I also downloaded and installed the legacy rt61 driver from serialmonkey.com but it also fails. Then I tried the original driver from RaLink configured using this rt61sta.dat file: it works including WPA. I suggest to replace the driver rt61pci with rt61 from RaLink for Edgy Eft. ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- [Edgy Beta] rt61pci does not work at all https://launchpad.net/bugs/66416 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
