Perhaps there are systems out there where you can choose between IDE and SATA. But my BIOS just knows about the two settings IDE and RAID. So, the big question is: what is going to happen if I set the disk mode to RAID? Perhaps I wouldn't care if I had just one drive in my computer, but having two identical drives, I fear RAID might actually work the way it's supposed to - and trash the data on at least one of the drives.
