Ahhh, so it isn't a bug: it is a (very confusing) feature. You are right that it has another icon, and it isn't included in the total-count. However since it is also bold, just like new articles I wrongfully understood it as a wrongfully marked new article. I think it would be much better if something else than bold was used to mark these articles maybe simply italic, maybe with another color, but this is confusing, especially if you are not aware of this "feature".
