Actually, there is a such script in the source package (gen_lists) but it's not shipped with the deb package because it's ugly. I had problems with your wiki page at the time it was written -- some URLs were not reachable, some pointed to packages directory, some to images directory, and some to other weird places.
Debian guys do it much better and easier to automate *hint*.
