Hi Walter, the workaround kind of works, but it does not help a lot.
With your workaround, if you open audacious and then drag  & drop a
music (lossless cd) folder from nautilus, audacious does load the
playlist but it also loads and tries to play all other files in the
folder: the .log, the jpg covers, etc.

For some reason the jpg covers and the log file get into audacious'
playlist before the .cue song content, and audacious stalls there.

Bottom line, I still have the .cue plugin de-activated and had to put
back the "detect file formats by extension". at least I can listen to
the music, but still no joy with the cuesheet and the songnames.
