Thanks for submitting your first bug, huzzam! Looking through the dist-upgrade/main.log file, I think this is relevant:
2008-05-01 19:41:01,080 DEBUG no file '/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/25adept-archive-limits' 2008-05-01 22:57:55,498 INFO cache.commit() 2008-05-01 23:43:25,691 WARNING no activity on terminal for 240 seconds (Configuring scrollkeeper) 2008-05-01 23:55:31,476 DEBUG got a conffile-prompt from dpkg for file: '/etc/ntp.conf' 2008-05-02 12:00:25,317 WARNING no activity on terminal for 240 seconds (Installed nethack-console) 2008-05-02 12:05:43,459 ERROR got an error from dpkg for pkg: 'gnome-applets': 'subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1' 2008-05-02 12:05:43,469 DEBUG running apport_pkgfailure() gnome-applets: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 A quick google search makes me think that the 25adept-archive-limits file is there for apt to clean out the package archive? It looks like a dpkg issue, so I'm going to mark the bug as such. Also, I've tried to look at the duplicate bug, but it's telling me I don't have permission to access the page. Can you get to it huzzam? ** Changed in: dpkg (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: firefox-3.0 => dpkg -- failed dist upgrade (7.10-8.04): gnome-applets & ubuntu-desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/225884 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
