I completely agree. I had to google up this article to get my 2005FPW
working:

And had to manually add the following line to my xorg.conf:

Modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 154.20 1680 1712 2296 2328 1050 1071 1081 1103

as well as changing all display modes. Seriously, how is any linux
newbie supposed to figure this out? Widescreen LCD's are getting more
and more common and need support from Ubuntu. A quote from the author of
the article:

"I'm not going to belabor the point that it's 2005 and this is one of
the friendlier linux distros that I've dealt with."
