Binary package hint: compiz
Fresh install of Hardy with compiz 1:0.7.4.0ubuntu6. Using ATI Radeon
Xpress 200m card and proper drivers acquired from EnvyNG. Using simple-
ccm for compiz so every time I select custom settings for visual effects
and firefox is running, firefox freezes. If I turn the custom settings
off then firefox runs fine again. If firefox is not running and I run
compiz then it runs fine. It appears that no other programs crash or
freeze (although I've read that thunderbird and openoffice have
crashed). If compiz is already running firefox will run, but only for a
short time before it freezes again. FIrefox does not turn grey and can
be closed and minimized and somewhat interacted with. Tabs can be
clicked and it appears that other options can be chosen such as new tab
and go back a page, but the only thing that changes is the title at the
top of the screen. This tells me that it must be functioning, but the
image is frozen or it is just running really slow? I'm really not sure
to be honest. I can provide more information if I have to.
