That was not my experience this time around. I've used nvidia-settings in the past to create an xorg.conf that would do what I liked (with a tiny bit of tweaking of course) and so I became a xorg.conf jedi master. But with Hardy, nvidia-settings doesn't work at all for me. Not even a bit. It can't detect anything that xrandr can't detect, and sometimes detects less than that.
Still it's not an optimal solution for me, as with Twinview stitching two monitors together GDM can't do fullscreen properly (a dealbreaker for me, at least). In the past I've used Compiz to compensate for that, but if as you say visual effects don't work, then I'm back at square one. I'd rather have a system that works properly and is a version behind than than a system that sort of works. So... I'm glad you got it work, but it's not quite good enough for me :) -- 8.04 - X with NVidia drivers does not detect screens or second graphics card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223875 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
