I get the same hanging behavior with "Evince Document Viewer 2.22.1.1" under Hardy (release) 8.04, with the following PDF: http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/GRE/pdf/Math.pdf .
It's the practice math GRE subject test. Evince has a problem when scrolling down to problem #10 or so. The computer appears to be completely locked up, but if I press ctrl-alt-bkspace, X will restart after a minute or so. The hard drive is thrashing the entire time.
