I think this bug is related to bug #208718 . I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 with the same problem. The workaround is to install the latest drivers from nvidia.com (the one of the 10th of April is known to work ok) Here's the link http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_amd64_173.08.html
