Hi (just my two cents),

Many, many people have been experiencing lock-ups since at least Gutsy
(myself included).

I did a complete re-install of Hardy, and I'm still experiencing lock-
ups. I run an ASUS A8M laptop and a Nvidia graphics card.

I found that if I switch ACPI off during boot (either, noacpi or
acpi=off) that I have absolutely no problems with lock-ups (of course I
have other problems, but they are minor in comparison). So, no lockups
with ACPI off! Is this somehow realted to a long ago, far away kernel
upgrade and a very poor BIOS ACPI implementation?!? (just a guess...)

Anyhow, lots of luck guys... :) and I hope maybe switching ACPI off
might help at least one person.

I'll keep checking back in the hopes of a possible fix.
