@ Andrew I had already tried the alt-F2 path, but that did not work, the reason as far as I can tell, is that it looks like the & was needed at the end of the command ( I have no idea what it is or does ) . if the emerald --replace is issued in a command window and exit is not then entered afterward, emerald themes do not stick, I am left without any window borders at all.
In the big picture, when I finally discovered this command on a forum message, I tried it on Feisty 7.10 and it worked perfectly. the results survived re-boots etc. I was happy. I would expect to see the same result in Hardy 8.04 issuing the same command, while it works, it does not survive re-boots, the question is why ? I just checked the 7.10 machine, and remember sessions IS NOT checked so nothing was automatically added to start-up as far as I know to make the emerald themes work at boot. why is hardy 8.04 different at this point ? why would I have to add a start-up setting for emerald in 8.04 when I do not see that emerald is even running on 7.10 after boot ? ( I'm just trying to understand the picture for more understanding of linux) I did not know about fusion-icon, I do know, I have just installed it and like it, I do not see a start -at-boot option tho, but adding it as a start-up in sessions is no problem if that solves the problem. I did lose my window icons when I ran it ( close window, etc) tho, more testing needed. at the end of the day, I don't understand why issuing a emerald --replace & solves all problems in 7.10, but does not in 8.04. -- emerald themer doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203791 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
