Hi again,

I've tried the liveCD of 8.04. All the problems that I mentioned when I
opened the bug report seem to have disappeared (I'm not sure about the
refresh rate, since I've moved on to an LCD display). But... Video
playback (movies) don't work. Namely, in the Examples folder, when I
play Mandela's clip, the sound is good, but the picture is garbled.

This problem is not new. I had managed to get video playback working in
7.04. Then, after a kernel upgrade, I got a garbled movie (actually, it
was less garbled than it is now). I assumed it was just a matter of
recompiling openchrome, but didn't have the time to try too hard (I
tried a bit, but couldn't get it to work). Now I see that this was
probably not the case.

Please write back if you need more info, since I can boot into both
working and non-working modes.
