Joe,
1. the virtualbox.org repository is not an official Ubuntu repository.
2. There's a vboxdrv module in Hardy (just install
virtualbox-ose-modules-generic)
3. The bug report is something different (post installation script failed).
Any chance you have answered "No", when being asked if saved states of your
virtual machines should get dropped, due to the upgrade? (see bug 187082)
