Public bug reported: After Ubuntu 8.04 has been released on 24th April 2008, I downloaded desktop AMD64 version, and installed in this past weekend on a 24" iMac (2nd gen) with Intel Core 2 Duo 2,4 GHz.
The existing partition for Mac OS X 10.5.2 (Leopard) was resized, and new partition for Ubuntu (27 GB) was created, by using Apple's Disk Utility. After that, I started Ubuntu from CD, loaded the OS, and then from the Desktop started with installation, which went smooth, but when logging in, there was no sound at all, for I couldn't hear some samples from within Examples folder. On Ubuntu Forums (under "Apple Intel Users FAQ) I found a post "No Sound - iMac 24 inch Aluminum" by nicfagn, and followed the procedure just fine until "...a little adjustment is needed to use the compiled module instead of the one shipped with the system". There I couldn't find this "snd-hda-intel" folder anywhere in file system, so I couldn't have proceeded with the proposed command. I think that if I could know the exact path to that folder, I could install the necessary patch and, after restart, enable sound on Ubuntu 8.04 under my iMac. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu 8.04 on Intel iMac 24" - no sound https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223506 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
