I can confirm this bug, using Hardy Heron and Bluefish version 1.0.7

It seems to be an issue with the file extension. If I create a file
called "test.txt" and double click to open it with bluefish, it will not
display the text of test.txt. If I change the file to "test.html" and
double click to open it with bluefish, it displays the text saved in the
file.

The same file with no file extension will not display the text upon
opening. I looked in File > preferences > filetypes but didn't see
anything that would provide a clue (.css has exactly the same settings
as .txt, but .css works right...)

Anyone who knows more about this than me have a suggestion? I am
stumped.
