  I have just upgraded my 6.06 LTS to 8.04 LTS, but I can't enter the

  Booting from previous kernel I can see that both modules 8139cp and
  8139too are loaded towards mii.

+ - boot on previous kernel 2.6.15
+ - put 8139cp in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
+ - update-initramfs -u
+ - reboot on 2.6.24-16

+ In this case the boot sequence hanged on the first message "Loading,
+ please wait..." forever.
