I got the same error and warnings in my logs directly after the upgrade from gutsy to hardy. Found out the new linux kernel headers were missing. I installed them and the ati drivers (8.4) again, works like a charma now. So check, whether all needed packages are installed. -- fglrx 8.4 released today.
