Hi Daniel Rheinbay - in case it helps. I didn't Upgrade but made a fresh, internet-connected Manual method install to 'free space' which resulted in HAL initialization failure. ReStarting in recovery mode I obtained an indication that my Zarlink DVB-T chip used by my AverTV A777 was not being recognised, making ALL other messages irrelevant and revealing that the release version was lacking DVB-T drivers of earlier releases. So, could you have another item that's not being recognised ? Recovery mode could provide a clue. As I am NOT a Linux expert, please ignore this if it doesn't apply.
