Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx
Hello, I have a Core2 E8500 with 4 GB of RAM, a Radeon HD3870, and a 24'' 1920x10200 monitor. I've recently upraded ubuntu from Feisty , where I was using the fglrx xorg drivers from ATI, which were mostly working (I couldn't quit X but that was a minor problem). With hardy, things are much more problematic : - the ATI-provided fglrx driver does not install because of GPL symbol issue, - the ubuntu-provided fglrx driver does work the first time it is installed, but on reboot I do not know why the kernel driver is not rebuilt and thus not present. The only fix I've found to this is to boot each time in cmd line mode, and force reinstall linux-restricted-modules - the radeonhd driver does not manage to initialize the screen - the vesa driver initialize the screen but the framebuffer is broken (it seems that it is non-linear and thus non-readable) It is frustrating, because on feisty things were ok. Thank you, have a nice day, ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Radeon HD3870 / fglrx multiple problems https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222449 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
