Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vnc4server
If you enable the Composite extension, vnc4server segfaults: shell # Xvnc +extension Composite -depth 24 -ac -br :1 _XSERVTransSocketOpenCOTSServer: Unable to open socket for inet6 _XSERVTransOpen: transport open failed for inet6/ham:1 _XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to open listener for inet6 Xvnc Free Edition 4.1.1 Copyright (C) 2002-2005 RealVNC Ltd. See http://www.realvnc.com for information on VNC. Underlying X server release 70000000, The X.Org Foundation Fri Apr 25 18:27:11 2008 vncext: VNC extension running! vncext: Listening for VNC connections on port 5901 vncext: created VNC server for screen 0 Segmentation fault Without "+extension Composite" this works fine. Please note, that this extension is necessary with RENDER (+extension RENDER) for KDE to support alpha channel rendering on icons/etc... (KDE has no "software" fall back). For the sake of completeness, neither Fedora's or hand-compiled versions worked. Next thing to do is figure out the weird build system to get a build with debug symbols ;) ** Affects: vnc4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- vnc server crash at startup with Composite extension https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222011 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
