Hi Suraj, Do you have exactly the described problem ("loading hardware drivers" [fail] linux kernel generic 2.6.24 - 16, hangs on boot), OR does your system start up and tell you, that it is running with a low resolution? This would be completeley different.
In my case, in conjunction with the hanging boot described in #215820 there was a problem loading the module snd_pcm, which was solved upgrading to the described package. I your boot does NOT hang up on "Loading hardware drivers", BUT somewhere else you should probably look in another package, as there is - linux-restricted-modules, linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 - nvidia-glx-new. I experienced in my GRUB multiboot configuration, that in some cases of problems with the nvidia drivers after upgrade to for example linux- image-2.6.24-16-generic it could help to reinstall some packages (in Synaptic), for instance linux-headers-2.6.24, linux-restricted- modules-2.6.24, because they were not correctly set up in all booted kernels. In a post-installation process the NVidia drivers are compiled as modules for all existing kernels. But this would not belong to this thread of discussion. -- "loading hardware drivers" [fail] linux kernel generic 2.6.24 - 16, hangs on boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/215820 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
