Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
I run gnome-keyboard-properties, and go to the Layouts tab. I click on
add, and choose my layout and variant. When I select the variant I
notice that the preview pane does not load, but shows the left-overs
from the menu.
When I click "Add", a dialog box appears with the following:

It can happen under various circumstances:
- a bug in libxklavier library
- a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
- X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation

If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd

The tool then returns to the first screen, but using the test text box,
the layout is not correct.
