Public bug reported: I cannot get the VGA output jack to work with my Toshiba laptop:
* if booted with nothing attached to the jack, the magic key combination that's supposed to switch between sending the display to the built-in LCD panel and sending it to the VGA port does nothing at all. * if booted with a monitor attached to the jack, both the monitor and the LCD panel show the boot sequence up to the point where X starts up; then both go blank, and nothing - not the magic keystroke, not unplugging the cable, not switching to a text console, not blindly forcing a shutdown - will bring either back again until the next boot. (That is, if I blindly force a restart, I don't see the shutdown splash screen at all, but then I do get a boot screen again.) The video chip is an ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M; I am using the free (Xorg) drivers, not fglrx. I'll attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log to this bug. Please see #64931 for lshal and lspci -v, #64927 for dmesg. Yeah, I'm having a lot of driver issues with this laptop. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- VGA output jack doesn't work with Toshiba Satellite M70-CL3 https://launchpad.net/bugs/65780 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
