This is still an issue on Dapper. Onkar's rejection reasons are wrong. Changing the HIDD_ENABLED setting does not work. There is a problem with bluetooth and GDM interaction. IIRC the problem is dbus permissions related.
This bug makes Ubunutu look very bad. If you boot stock Dapper with a bluetooth keyboard (such as my Logitech DiNovo) The keyboard and mouse cease functioning as soon as GDM starts.
